The story

The Italian label Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921. This family company with equestrian inspirations met with rapid success and diversified its range, in particular with the Bamboo bag. It wasn't long before Gucci decided to expand its range of leather accessories, placing its famous green/red/green striped logo on every piece. Gucci creates it pieces that people are crazy for: bit loafers, the Jackie O bag, the unisex Hobo bag and the Flora scarf.

The distinctive GG logo now signs most of the labels accessories and clothing and Gucci brought out its first fragrance in 1975.

Gucci today

In January 2015, Gucci appointed a new creative director. Alessandro Michele, who was previously in charge of the label's accessories range, arrived at Gucci in 2002 and became his predecessor Frida Giannini's right-hand man in 2011.

Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz adore the label and amongst Gucci's muses are celebrities such as Charlotte Casiraghi and Blake Lively.

The key pieces:

The 'Flora' print, loafers, the 'Jackie O' and 'Bamboo' bags.
