The story

Thierry Gillier created Zadig in 1977 expressing his love of literature by calling his label after Voltaire's novel, 'Zadig or The Book of Fate'. At first Zadig's boutiques stocked various brands: it wasn't until 1996 that their founder joined forces with a Scottish cashmere producer and revealed his very first creations - a line of sweaters - to the public. One year later he met Amélie, a student at Sciences-Po. She would become his wife and business partner having decided to listen to her heart and join Thierry in the Zadig adventure. The label became 'Zadig et Voltaire' and rapidly imposed its own silhouette: jeans, a cashmere sweater, boots and a leather jacket.

In 2004, the label launched a line of menswear, followed by childrenswear the year after. Zadig & Voltaire continued to develop and in 2006 the Swedish designer Cecilia Bönström was appointed creative director. Since then a large range of accessories has seen the light of day with leather goods, belts, sunglasses and jewellery...

It has created its own fragrance with a literary inspiration: 'Tome 1: la pureté' and has launched a record label 'Zadig & Voltaire Music'. In 2011, the model Erin Wasson signed a capsule collection with the label.

The key pieces:
